The Mood Booster
Run Club

A free, no pressure 5km around Hyde Park, every Monday evening. We are a slower paced, inclusive run club, not a fast running club. We run at the pace of our slowest member, so nobody gets left behind.

Running every Monday since October 2023, rain or shine

About our run

We start the week as we mean to go on, with a fun, fresh evening 5km around Hyde Park. Any and all runners are welcome here. The Mood Booster Run Club is about community, inclusivity and connecting like minded people over a shared passion for running.

We are proud to be a slower paced, inclusive run club, not a fast running club. We run at the pace of our slowest member, so nobody gets left behind and there is no need to worry about racing. We take short walk breaks whenever we need to.

The origin

The Mood Booster was founded in October 2023 by Dr Marcus Bull. The idea was sparked by his own search for something more from the London running scene. After running every single day for 1,000 days, Marcus had come to value consistency, but he also recognised how lonely it could feel, and how much more powerful movement can be when it is shared.

He wanted to create a space where running was not about performance or personal bests, but about presence, connection and community. To mark his 1,000 day run streak, Marcus brought people together for a fundraising run in memory of his dad, raising money for the hospice that cared for him. That day lit a spark. It showed him how many people were craving the same thing: something kind, inclusive and joy driven.

So he started a club. He put the word out, and a few runners joined him that first Monday. They jogged slowly, chatted, and ended up at the pub. That was the beginning.

Since then, The Mood Booster Run Club has grown into a community full of first timers, seasoned runners, and people who never thought they would be part of something like this. They run every Monday, rain or shine, and the club remains unapologetically not about performance. It is about joy, collective celebration and winning as one. And as it turns out, when you take the pressure off, the miles fly by anyway.

"The Mood Booster Run Club is a space where movement meets community and celebration. A run club rooted in joy, connection and showing up exactly as you are. I started it to remind people, and myself, that running does not have to be about performance. It can simply be about feeling good, together. Let's start as we mean to go on, and let's boost some moods."

Questions before Monday

Do I need to be a fast runner to join?

Not at all, quite the opposite. We are proud to be a slower paced, inclusive run club rather than a fast running club. We run at the pace of whoever is slowest on the day, and take walk breaks whenever the group needs to. This club is unapologetically not about performance.

I have never run with a club before, is that okay?

It is more than okay, it is exactly who this is for. Plenty of our regulars turned up to their first Monday having never run in a group before.

How do I actually join?

Sign our waiver, then you will get access to our WhatsApp chat with all the details on upcoming runs and events.

Is there somewhere to leave my bag?

Yes, bag drop is available at The Carpenter's Arms from 6:15pm, before the run sets off at 6:30pm.

What happens if it is raining?

We run rain or shine. It is London, so we would never make it out of the house otherwise. Dress for the weather and we will see you there.

Is it free?

Yes, The Mood Booster Run Club is completely free to join. All we ask is that you sign the waiver first.

Boost your Monday

If you have made it down the page this far, fair play to you. You would be doing yourself a disservice at this point not to join the group chat.
